Cerita : A Master Chereographer
I Nyoman Cerita, a
choreographer from Singapadu Village (Sukawati, Gianyar), left for
the Los Angeles, USA on Thursday, 2 January 2003 for an advanced
study in Fine Arts to gain a masters degree. He is grateful to have
the opportunity to study in the famous university in California,
despite his departure being delayed for three-months.
Born on 16 July 1961, Cerita who’s is married to Ni Made Seri has
got two children, Putu Wulantari and Kadek Puriartha. Apart from
three-years study in the USA, he is also preparing for a
collaboration with Citra Dass, an Indian dancer skilled in
performing “Katak Kali” dance. This collaboration will take place in
May 2003.
Another collaboration will take to the stage in August 2003 in three
countries. That is Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, specifically
Bali. He feels more stress needs to be placed on promoting Bali as a
safe tourist resort following the 12 October 2002 bomb tragedy. So
far, his daily activities consist of dance compositions and
training, especially on the eve of the annual Bali Art Festival.
